Weekly Progression
Week by week, develop an ever deepening understanding of expressive painting. Use different materials, colour, surface and composition.

Find, through the expression of your unique perceptions, a wonderful balance of freedom with control. There is a growing feeling of emergence as invisible aspects of the ‘self’, manifests as artwork.
Through COLLAGE, you will experience the ease of understanding fundamental principles about painting. You will develop intuitive understanding of COLOUR, DESIGN and PAINTING TECHNIQUE.

Foundation Course:
Collage to Abstraction
Abstract painting will allow you to explore art as intuition, experienced through large acrylic works on canvas.
Your personal style is realised!
Stage One:
Abstract Painting Course
Stage Two:
Visual Interpretation Course
The visual world is explored at a subjective level. You will re-interpret LANDSCAPE; STILL LIFE; HUMAN FIGURE; PORTRAITURE
You will explore your unique perceptions of the visual world!
You will explore a broad range of techniques to prepare you for the diversity of the world of painting. These include PHOTOMONTAGE; COLLAGE; PAINT WASH and FLOODING; TEXTURAL and GLAZING.
You will develop individual technique!
Stage Three:
Mixed Media Course
Theme Development
You will be shown how to visually explore a theme of your choice, and how everything you have learned at hART stART studio can be applied to your own painting series.
The final step towards independence as an artist!
You will embark on your own area of research and work towards YOUR OWN PAINTING SERIES.

The course is designed to reveal whole new ways of thinking about Art. therefore everyone is a beginner. Because our tutors are qualified Art teachers they Art teachers they are expert at reaching new concepts,

The course is designed in carefully sequenced lessons. The sequences are divided into 5 stages. Each Stage take around 15 to 20 lessons. It takes around two years to reach Studio level at which time you continue to paint as an independent artist.

The notion of talent is not relevant to learning in this course. We learn to use colour and composition as a way of exploring our responses to the world. Because this does not involve traditional drawing skills, members very quickly realise they will develop their own style and vision.
